At Radiant Smile, our goal is to help patients keep their natural teeth whenever possible. A root canal may be recommended when the inside of a tooth becomes infected or inflamed. This treatment removes the infection, relieves pain, and prevents further damage. However, not every patient or tooth is a candidate. Dr. Nguyen will evaluate your tooth and determine if treatment can be performed in our office or if referral to a root canal specialist (endodontist) is necessary.

Do I Need a Root Canal?

If you are experiencing dental discomfort, please come in for an exam and evaluation. Our team will determine whether a root canal is appropriate for your tooth. We do not diagnose based on symptoms alone—an in person evaluation with imaging is required.

Procedure Overview

1. Diagnosis & Imaging

Dr. Nguyen confirms the condition using X-rays or 3D imaging.

2. Comfort & Anesthesia

The area is fully numbed for a comfortable experience.

3. Cleansing & Sealing

The canals are cleaned, shaped, disinfected, and sealed.

4. Final Restoration

The tooth is restored. Most teeth require a crown after a root canal to protect against fracture and ensure long-term success.

After Care & Next Steps

You may experience mild soreness for a short time after treatment, which is typically manageable with over the counter medication. A follow up visit will be scheduled to place the final restoration. Please note: we do not offer same day crowns; crown placement is completed at a subsequent appointment.

Emergency Considerations

Radiant Smile provides same day emergency evaluations for dental pain, swelling, or suspected infection. When appropriate, we can begin measures to relieve pain and will determine if your case should be referred to an endodontist. We do not repair or treat broken dentures as part of emergency services.
